ABS Group to Develop Intelligent Maintenance Strategy for Golar FLNG Fleet

January 12, 2016

Supported by a new CMMS, the fleet-wide strategy will help promote increased safety and reliability while strengthening the overall asset management program.

(Houston) ABS Group subsidiary Genesis Technology Solutions, Inc. (GenesisSolutions) has been awarded a contract by Golar LNG to develop an intelligent maintenance strategy for the Company’s new fleet of floating LNG (FLNG) vessels utilizing the GoFLNG floating liquefaction technology.

As part of a fleet-wide maintenance strategy to address the safety and reliability of FLNG assets and activities, ABS Group will assist Golar LNG with implementing the Maximo computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to support its asset management program. ABS Group will provide a model for asset data, criticality rankings, spare parts analysis, a risk-based inspection strategy, failure mode and effects analysis and a maintenance program for the first GoFLNG facility under construction, the Hilli, which will operate off the coast of Cameroon, as well as for future vessels.

"This is an important project for ABS Group and GenesisSolutions to support our clients in the growing FLNG market,” says ABS Group CEO Todd Grove. “To maximize the value to our client, GenesisSolutions will collaborate closely with our Offshore Services team throughout development of this maintenance strategy, building on their technical knowledge and experience in providing related robust offshore asset management solutions."

"We are pleased to work closely with Golar LNG to develop an intelligent maintenance strategy based on safety, risk and reliability for the Company’s next-generation FLNG fleet," adds Rob MacArthur, ABS Group Senior Vice President, Offshore. "During the past 20 years, ABS Group has developed and documented a proven way to implement asset management programs using Maximo and other intelligent systems that help drive asset uptime and productivity while simultaneously reducing OPEX costs."

"The coming years will see Golar LNG play an important role in the gas industry," says Kenneth Ruyts, Lead FLNG Maintenance and Integrity Superintendent for Golar LNG. "We are implementing a new CMMS that will become the backbone of our Asset Management Organization, and we selected ABS Group to support the rollout of this system because of their reliable expertise in various industries, especially working with FPSO vessels, and proven model for risk-based inspection, maintenance and asset management."

As a trusted provider of technical solutions to the offshore, marine and natural gas industries, ABS Group offers a unique Asset Integrity Management (AIM) methodology and suite of AIM tools to help clients improve reliability and integrity, achieve high production uptime and reduce OPEX costs.

About Golar LNG

Golar LNG has been developing the GoFLNG project for the past two years. The GoFLNG business model reduces the resource holder’s CAPEX and project execution risk, advances their cash flow and is flexible enough to develop smaller reserves. The first GoFLNG facility’s location will be off the coast of Cameroon. The project is based on the allocation of natural gas reserves from offshore fields, which will be exported to global markets via the FLNG facility Hilli now under construction at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore. It is expected that production will commence in the second quarter of 2017.
