Processing highly hazardous materials always includes the risk of toxic and/or flammable releases that could potentially threaten the lives of workers. However, with proper design and location of workplace structures, the risk of injury or death in the event of an accident can be significantly reduced.
This presentation will review specific requirements for Emergency Shelters in API RP 752/753 and how to satisfy them in a Facility Siting Study.
What You Will Learn:
- Requirements for Emergency Shelters in API RP 752/753
- When explosion hazards must be accounted for in Emergency Shelter evaluations
- Factors to consider when evaluating buildings for long duration exposures to fire and toxic hazards
- Analysis tools and methods that can be used to show compliance
- How to test buildings for toxic gas leakage and use that information
