David Lawson

Vice President and General Counsel

David Lawson serves as Vice President and General Counsel at ABS Group. He originally joined ABS Group in 2004 and later transferred to our parent company, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), in 2023 as Associate General Counsel where he was responsible for supporting the Global Government Group and Financial Services Group. In 2024, David returned to ABS Group, where he now manages legal risk for all business lines across ABSG Consulting Inc. (ABS Consulting) and ABS Quality Evaluations (ABS QE).

Prior to joining the organization, David was a commercial litigator for nine years. He began his career in accounting, working as a senior auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers and PepsiCo.

David holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago. He is also a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas.
